Shaun the Sheep
Due to the wonders of Netflix my family has recently discovered Shaun the Sheep.

Shaun initially appeared in the first Wallace and Gromit episode A Close Shave. But don’t judge him by that role alone. Here he anchors a slap stick series of shorts that bring to mind the best of Looney Tunes and Tom and Jerry. There is humor for both young and old. My children are addicted and even my wife appreciates it.
You can watch the first season on Netflix streaming, iTunes, or buy it from Amazon. However if you buy it from Amazon UK you get it in the proper aspect ratio and for pretty cheap at the moment. You just have to have a region free player to watch it.
Or you can try to catch episodes on YouTube before they get yanked.

Pretty cool. I’ve always been a fan of Wallace and Grommit. This looks very good too.
Shaun is a favorite at our house. Very clever with lots of little jokes if you’re paying attention.
I love Wallace and Grommit too. Thanks for the heads up that Shaun the Sheep is on Watch Instantly.
The best part of Shaun the Sheep is the theme song.
We love Shaun the Sheep and happily discovered our library is stocking a bunch of his adventures on DVD.
Out of curiosity what did you think of the latest Wallace and Grommit short? I was honestly a bit disappointed. There were some clever moments but no where near as good as either the movie or the previous two features.
A Matter of Loaf and Death?
I think that W&G has fallen into a bit of a rut. It was very similar to A Close Shave except that in this case the dog was good and the romantic interest was evil.
The movie is genius. The kids watch it in the car occasionally so I don’t see it much, but I hear it, and the dialog is amazing. It it probably a bit long though for kids. Once they get to the vegetable competition it seems like it should end pretty quickly but it goes on and on.
Finally, there are actually three previous W&G features, for a total of four, plus the movie.
My wife loves Shaun the Sheep!
My kids liked the movie far better than the shorts.
I agree Loaf and Death was a bit repetitive too. I like that they were copying noirish movies but they could have picked a better subgenre to copy.
I did know there were three prior shorts. However the prior two were fantastic. The first one on the moon has some cute parts but is way too slow moving and at best a sign of what was to come. So while Loaf is better than the first one it’s inferior to all the others.
Shaun the Sheep is great, but Timmy Time is a bigger hit in my household. The baby sheep from StS has grown up and is going to nursery school and my two year old can’t get enough.
Timmy Time is on Disney, right? I didn’t think that was by the same people. Am I wrong?
Edit: I was wrong. It is a spin off of Shaun the Sheep. However the animation style sure seems different. I’ll have to check it out. (Wow – Looking at the wiki they already have 53 episodes!!!)
If you love Shaun the Sheep and W&G then you absolutely have to check out Creature Comforts, also by the same team (and a Netflix Instant Play).
They take real life interviews of Americans and overdub them onto animated animals. It is amazing.
