Idol: Rank ‘Em 1-to-13
13) Anoop
12) Scott
11) Megan
10) Michael
9) Jasmine
8 ) Allison
7) Jorge
6) Kris
5) Matt
4) Alexis
3) Danny
2) Lil Rounds
1) Adam
Anoop should be gone after tonight’s performance. And it wasn’t even so much his performance (which was bad) but the fact that he chose that song. Before Paula said anything I was saying that song is untouchable, you don’t even go near it. And Scott. Come on, he’s just not very good and his stage presence is terrible. Maybe I’m just sick of it always being about his blindness. And yes I’m a bad person. Megan chose a terrible song and dances even worse. Awkward. And her voice isn’t good enough to make up for it. Michael…meh. Jasmine certainly has composure and a presence, but she doesn’t have the depth that she needs to be a contender. Allison didn’t sound that great tonight. She’ll be around for a few weeks though. Jorge was very earnest and sounded alright. Kris made me hearken back to the days of listening to Dave Matthews or some kid on the quad or something. Not bad, but not top 5 material. And he didn’t get why Simon told him to leave his wife out of it for a few weeks. Matt sounded good but didn’t show much range. But he’s good. Alexis may have been oversinging like the judges said, but I didn’t mind it. She had to make up for the excellence of some other contestants. Danny will be in this position most of the season. He was really good though I didn’t like the song he sang. But he’s comfortable and has some good energy. Lil Rounds was fantastic. Perfect song choice, she sounded great. And I really like her personality. And I hate to agree with the judges but Adam was really, really good. I don’t think he was as good as they said he was, that he was on a different level than the other singers, but he was the best. He is very comfortable (which comes from years in theatre) and sounds great.
This will start to get interesting after the next 5-6 are voted off, but the real contest is going to be the last three, Lil Rounds, Danny and Adam.

14. Kara
She’s gotta go.
13. Anoop
He’s a goner. I knew someone was going to pick a classic MJ song (Beat It, Thriller, Billie Jean) and that it would send them packing.
12. Megan
Quite possibly one of the worst song choices in recent AI memory. Not sure what she was thinking. Maybe Kris sabotaged her by recommending it with his “helpfulness.”
11. Jorge
He’s awful. Should have never made it this far.
10. Michael
Meh is right.
9. Jasmine
8. Allison
Entertaining, but I don’t know if she’s talented enough.
7. Scott
He’s good on the piano but I’m not sure he’ll be able to lean on it all season long. I thought his performance was solid though.
6. Kris
I had the same DMB feeling.
5. Alexis
I like her a lot. I was surprised the judges weren’t more wowed.
4. Lil Rounds
I think the final four are the favorites for the season and won’t be in any trouble for a while.
3. Matt
He seems like a creative guy (David Cook, Blake Lewis) that could sneak up on people during the season. He’s becoming my favorite.
2. Adam
He started off amazing, but his performance got a little scary which I think is due to his theatre background.
1. Danny
It’s his to lose.
By the way, I thought this was one of the best AI episodes in a long, long time, maybe ever. At least for an episode at this stage of the competition. All but three were good, and several were fantastic. Is this really the first time American Idol has done Michael Jackson? It took this long?
All I’m gonna say is that at this point, I don’t care about their names–I’ll learn who is who when there are only 6 left.
Puerto Rican and blind boys were the most boring–I suspect they will go. They might appeal to a more adult audience, but I suspect the voters skew younger. I have no interest in Justin Timberlake look alike. Rockin Robin was a very odd choice–was it ironic? Jasmine was dull too.
I liked the Black or White guy. And the one with glasses who is a minister. Some of the girls are good singers, but I didn’t love the song choices.
I agree about this being the best episode ever. Almost everyone was really good. I don’t get the love for Jorge, I think he’s awful. I was disappointed Megan chose that horrible song, I love the weird quirkiness of her voice. Her dancing doesn’t bother me. I also love Allison and hope she stays around for awhile.
My husband’s reaction to Adam was “He just ran away with it” and I think he’s right.
I liked Alexis. It’s funny, sometimes I wonder if the contestants sound a lot different in person than on TV. I didn’t get why they told Alexis she was oversinging and fawned all over Adam. I thought the two performances were quite similar and Adam didn’t sound a lot better to me. Strange.
I was embarassed by Megan’s song choice. Did she think she was singing to a bunch of gradeschool kids? That would be the only plausible explanation. Despite that, however, I like her voice.
I think most of them are guilty of oversinging. A lot of them seemed to get very shouty.
You know, I went to school and acted in several plays/ musicals with Adam. The way you see him on stage is the way he was all the time. He’s a showman — always “on” and when he sings theater, he has some serious pipes. Maybe it’s my past experience with him tainting my opinion but I just don’t see him as a pop star, just someone who has a voice meant for the stage.
That’s what I mean Susan: was Alexis any worse in that respect than Adam, who they loved? I don’t think so, but maybe it sounded different in person.
Ryan, I think you have a serious man-crush.
I think it’d be nice to have a pop star with a voice that’s actually meant for the stage. Since most pop stars today have voices manufactured in a studio.
Kanye was horrible last night!
MCQ, I don’t think Adam got shouty, but I’d have to watch it again.
What’s everyone think about the new “save” option the judges have? I don’t really see why it matters. Chris Daughtry’s done just fine without actually winning the contest. I think it’s funny how the judges still act like it’s about who wins.
Not that the judges ‘save’ would have helped half the people they listed! Daughtry, Jennifer Hudson, Tamayra…all booted after the top 5 spot.
Ok I think I figured that Adam dude out:
He’s the secret love child of Axel Rose and Liza Minnelli.
