SNL’s Weekend Update had a hilarious commentary by NY Governor David Paterson played by Fred Armisen. Well, not everyone thought it was funny.

Stargate Universe taps Robert Carlyle for its starring role.

MSNBC asking if today’s TV heroes (i.e. Dexter, House, Jack Bauer) are too dark.

EW’s Worst Movie Dialogue does include, ”Hold me, like you did by the lake on Naboo.”

Apparently Terminator Salvation will not be the last Terminator movie.

The new Wolverine trailer.

A good MTV interview with JJ Abrams.

Remake Alert! The Crow.

No sure if it’s a remake or a sequel, but The Phantom is returning.

Kenneth Branagh to direct Thor.

  1. Oh great, now I get to go buy my third copy of Pearl Jam’s Ten… Of course, one can never own enough copies of Ten

The SNL skit was great. The governer’s office needs to lighten up a bit.

  2. It’s kinda hard to call Dexter or House a “hero”. (Unless you can continue calling those guys on Heroes by that name, in which case, no problem!) If Dexter Morgan or Gregory House are your role models, you are messed up!

Interestingly, there were over 40,000 leechers on last night’s Dexter when I got my copy. Dang!

  3. I’m only up to 2.3 on my Dexter. Where he gets the girl from that excellent British TV show Hustle as his AA sponsor. Dexter is awesome although the first episode or two of season 1 can be off-putting.

I wouldn’t call House a “hero” either. They spend an inordinate amount of time really lambasting the guy. I love the show though.

  4. I have mild hope that “Heroes” will improve once this story arc gets wrapped up. Bryan Fuller (Pushing Daisies, RIP) has returned to the writer’s room and he says that the next chapter (“Refugees”) is really good.

That said, I’m four episodes behind on that show, and I’m not sure if I’ll ever bother to catch up.

  5. I like House as a character, but I’d hardly call him a hero. And I laughed at the SNL stuff, but I knew they’d get grief for it.

  6. From the article about Patterson/SNL:

“The governor is sure that ‘Saturday Night Live,’ with all of its talent, can find a way to be funny without being offensive,”

Is that true? Is it ever possible to be funny without being offensive? I think the real question is whether one is too offensive.

As for the Phantom, I’m going to resist mentioning his super-hero-suit-enhanced nipples. (Oops!)

  7. I thought last night’s Heroes was actually pretty good for a change. Particularly Ando’s contribution. Makes me wonder if they’re reading Xanth for superpower ideas.

Nathan’s character and motivations completely baffle me, though.

Clark: Dexter remains awesome! I just watched the Season 3 finale. It’s very intense. (The AA sponsor you’re watching is a Psycho. *grin*)
