Turtles, hands down. They have a sense of humor, and they eat pizza. In contrast, the Power Rangers all seem too deadly earnest. Boring.
Thundercats, ho!!
Two-way tie for last.
I can’t possibly be expected to choose between these two violent early 90′s classics. The first TMNT movie was worth the price just for the “Right Field” Pizza Hut commercial at the beginning:
Oh, and it’s “Fundercats.”
I may be too old, I read TMNT comics, but never saw the cartoons. I think I’ve seen bits of the movies. Power Rangers was definitely considered for kids by the time I heard about it.
Now if you were to put up a G.I. Joe vs. Transformers cartoon poll…
Never watched Ninja Turtles. My kids loved Power Rangers.
This should have been Johnny Socko vs. Ultraman.
TMNT
TMNT.
The artwork in the original comic books was pretty amazing.
TMNT is way cooler. Power rangers is lame.
Turtles. Not even a question.
Weren’t the original comics much more adult?
Other than watching the recent 3D movie (which was horrible) I really have no horse in this race. Both suck.
I must despise you now, Clark.
TMNT rocks (well, the recent 3D movie sucked).
But that’s because I was a fan of the original black and white comics, which totally rocked [and were quite violent. They were not kids comics at all].
Fun fact: for the UK market, TMNT was called Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles. “Ninja” was deemed too violent for kids.
Sometime we need a post on the differences between UK and US pop culture, especially candy names; e.g., I’m told m&ms go by some other name (gasp) on the sceptered isle. True or false, Ronan?
The only interesting thing about Power Rangers was trying to guess which parts of which action scenes used Japanese footage and which used American. It was usually pretty easy to tell, because suddenly the Rangers would be a lot less muscular, and the Yellow Ranger’s boobs would disappear, because in Japan the Yellow Ranger was a guy.
Sounds like a post on the differences between Japan and the US would be more revealing than UK versus US.
