TV
Patrick “Back from the Dead” Swayze is starring in a new FBI Drama from A&E called “The Beast“. Sneak peak here. Looks promising and Swayze was a smart choice.
Did Bravo sabotage Project Runway before its move to Lifetime next season?
Remake Alert! Melrose Place?
The Simpsons is set for three more years.
New 24 trailer. This one is for season seven. And yes, BTD Greg, you’re a liar.
Movies
Netflix and TiVo form a partnership. Makes sense.
New trailer for the Tom Cruise/Brian Singer movie, Valkyrie.
Better than Edward Zwick’s Defiance?
This was announced a while back, but M. Night Shyamalan is delving into Rod Serling territory by producing a new series of movies called “The Night Chronicles“. I think this is a step in the right direction for Night.
Mark Millar (Wanted) is pitching a new Superman franchise. It’s…interesting. “It’s gonna be like Michael Corleone in the Godfather films, the entire story from beginning to end, you see where he starts, how he becomes who he becomes, and where that takes him. The Dark Knight showed you can take a comic book property and make a serious film, and I think the studios are ready to listen to bigger ideas now.â€
Good interview with MST3K creator Joel Hodgson.
I once quit my paper route so I could stay home and watch Silverhawks. Now I can relive those once glorious days.
It appears that every graphic novel/comic ever written will be made into a movie. Joining next year’s Watchmen is this fall’s The Spirit. Now, Sam Mendes has agreed to direct Preacher and Universal is developing Villains.
Joaquin Phoeniz, done.
Sports
Vicious leg break in a college football game on Wednesday.
Though nowhere near as bad as this one. (not for the faint of heart)

I think the most important tv news is the almost maybe cancellations of Pushing Daisies…

True. I was hoping to have all of my ratings stuff done by now, but couldn’t pull it all together in time. Anyway, it appears that even if Daisies isn’t cancelled this season, it’s probably not likely to be renewed for next.
Pushing Daisies is still one of my favorite shows on TV, but from the beginning, I’ve wondered if maybe its days weren’t numbered. It’s just might be too quirky and high-concept for a mass audience.
Wow, no please ABC don’t cancel that show.
I will mourn the passing of Daisies. It’s the funnest show on TV.
Daisies only pulled a 4.2 rating on 10/15 (better than the previous week). That was behind Knight Rider(!) and both CBS comedies. And while shows like Heroes and Chuck are being saved by strong 18-49 numbers, PD is very week there. And PD can’t be a cheap show to produce.
There is a “Save the Show” campaign going on though. Maybe this will lead to what happened with Friday Night Lights, and DirecTV will cut a deal to broadcast early episodes? Wishful thinking.
Regarding graphic novel movification: so there’s hope that one day there could be an ElfQuest movie?

That’s too bad. PD is the best show on right now in my opinion.
I can’t believe people prefer Knight Rider to Pushing Daisies.
I’d heard Heroes numbers are way down. I’m surprised they aren’t as down as I thought.
I think those Knight Rider numbers are fake. Actually I have reason to suspect a lot of NBC’s numbers, including Heroes.
Sucks that Joaquin Phoenix is “retiring”, he’s such a great actor. Never saw PD, but love Knight Rider (awesomely bad!). Definitely going to check out “the Beast.”
I can kind of understand, especially after what happened with his brother.
I check in on Knight Rider for unintended comedy. Usually just a few minutes of it and I’m ROFL. Same with Sarah Conner Chronicles.
Dude, I’m drooling over a Superman re-make if it’s like these new Batman films. I like him more than Batman.
