I forgot to mention that the song is “Salute Your Soultion.” The video is composed of about 2500 still photos. The album was released almost completely without any pre-release marketing or warning whatsoever. It was approximately three weeks from final recording to the release date and it was released on the same date in all formats, including vinyl. Needless to say, this has never been accomplished before in the digital age. We are truly in a brave new world of the music biz.
Cool song. I wish Jack Black’s voice didn’t annoy me so much. It doesn’t bug me as much as it usually does on this one, though.
What was the motivation (if any) for releasing the album without any marketing or warning? Seems counter-intuitive.
Yeah, Jack Black should definitely not be singing on a Raconteurs album.

These days the best marketing sometimes is the surprise. Or they caught wind that it was about to hit the torrents.
In interviews, Jack White (Jack Black’s evil twin?)has said that they didn’t want fans to have to wait for the album, so they just rushed it straight out after the recording was completed. I don’t want to dispute that, but I will just say that the coordination required for a same day release on all media so soon after the end of production would require extraordinary preparation, in my view.
Haha. Oops. I’ll plead lack of sleep on that one.
It’s a great song and video. It should do well.

I just noticed that Amazon has this album for $8.99 for download, which is 2 bucks cheaper than iTunes or the band’s own website. Why? It’s a mystery, but a good deal can be had on Amazon, for now anyway.
