Allison, before I put all my attention to soy milk and nog, somethings to try are the "fairly" new (to me) soy cream cheese and sour cream. I think there is only one brand - Tofutti, but even my daughter who really dislikes soy products likes this stuff. But don't buy it it you aren't "non-dairy" - far too expensive and still synthetic food... By the way as far as soy ice cream goes... just kiddin - I'm sure there's far too much already when this disussion started with egg nog! tbc...Marian

Allison, I do the rice milk too- by my kids love the soymilk Costco sells... in vanilla flavor, and it's organic to boot.

Yes, bwa-hahaha, I am the evil pusher of Christmas Milk!

Marian, if there is a brand of soy milk out there that's drinkable or even kind of good, please share the information!
No, not silk brand eggnog, Christy. But you bring a good point to mind. One buys milk and no matter what the brand, milk is milk. I have to drink soy. Milk makes me crazy. Dull, thick headed, worrier. Soy is different! Every brand has it's own flavour, so I promise I will do a taste test for you soy drinkers, save you the time and money, and recommend brands... if a dull thick headed worrying mom has credibility...!

There is actually no perfect ratio, since nog in all its manifestations is perfectly horrid! I blame Tracy M for getting my kids hooked on that evil "Christmas Milk"!!!!

Wasail-Apple or Orange,no floaties, whole spices, crockpot

Oh 80/20. Marian, soy nog (at least the Silk brand) is not yum. Unless you go into it thinking "this will be different, slightly beany and full of masking agents" in which case it's just fine.

I used to demo egg nog for Cream of Weber (this is what high school students have to do to survive the holidays), and loved the variety of nog-sponses that people gave. Of course there was the "Is there rum in that?" wink wink nudge nudge to the gagging reflex and accompanying motions.
