Yes! Rusty got it right! I can’t tell you how many people I’ve argued with in defense of Paul’s Boutique as the best. Hooray!
I agree, but I’d put Ill Communication above Hello Nasty.
Ill‘s crap. The Beasties didn’t figure it out until Paul’s Boutique but Check Your Head is #1. Also, I agree with SG. I hated 5 Boroughs. Any news on the new album?
As long as we can all agree Mischach Sharach and Abednego were made 1000 times cooler by the beastie boys, we’re all good.
And Tracy, you’re still wrong!!! I did it like this, I did it like that, I did it with a wiffle ball bat!
Dude, I had never even HEARD of Shadrach, Meschach and Abednego until the Beasties.
Mo, I’ll show you a wiffle ball bat! Pay no attention to her!
Does none of the above count? I always thought the techno re-mixes of the Beastie Boys were vastly superior to what was on the albums.
If I *had* to pick it would be Ill Communication. But that’s mainly because I really like Sabotage.
Can’t stand it, I know you planned it, I’m gonna set it straight, this Watergate!
the Inside Sound From Way out should make the list. best makeout/sex music, hands down.
I’m not normally into compilation albums – but Sounds of Science was a pretty solid mix.
What I like about Licensed to Ill is that the album cover seems to parody Led Zeppelin’s first album cover and there are so many Zep samples mixed in …
On the subect of the Beastie Boys and Led Zep:

I’d say I like the first three in the order of release. After that, I don’t care.
That clip is awesome!
random John, that clip gave me chills. thanks for posting. sabotage is my all time fave BB song.
random John, wonderful, awesome, brilliant! Thanks for sharing!
This brings back memories of Lollapalooza ’95. Beastie Boys ended their set with Sabotage, there was more energy and adrenaline during that song than I have ever experienced since at a show. Then Smashing Pumpkins came on and opened with Disarm which sucked all of the existing emotion out of the crowd, we all wanted more Beasties! Corgan was not too happy and began his own whiny version of Sabotage between songs. It was classic but the crowd was pretty pissed. I remember getting home that night with a boot mark stamped into my back. I was sore for days…
Sabotage:
unfortunately, have not seen the boys live yet – someday?!
But I highly recommend
Awesome! I Fu**’in Shot That! a Beastie concert doc, which put cameras in the hands of audience members. It really captured the feel of a concert, during Sabotage (I swear I had goosebumps) There’s great extras, as well.
