Just When I Thought It Couldn’t Get More Ridiculous…

the pet people up the ante. Not only is it now socially acceptable to dress your pets, push them in their own strollers and not vote for a presidential candidate because he let his dog ride on top of a car, but now there’s this and this.

Folks, what the hell is going on???

  1. Huh? What?! Dude, I had no idea there was such a thing as strollers for your dog… No flippin’ idea.

As far as the websites, go, what the..? People actually do this?? In my experience, only people with no human kids anthropomorphize their pets this way. Ewwwwwwww.

  2. I just saw an ad today for doggie ice cream sandwiches made of dog biscuits and real ice cream, I guess.

I shook my head and slowly backed away…

  3. I like dogs and cats and all – but I do agree that some people take things way too far.

Some years ago, someone I knew took her dog to the pet veterinarian and she was laughing her head off because the vet kept referring to the dog as her “baby” … she said it was a bit strange.

  4. My brother made a friendster page for his cat ages ago. Why can’t I ever think of these things, and make millions?

  5. I think the reason Supergenius hasn’t chimed in yet is because his little rat-dog is dressed up in chinos today.

    Susan,
Just think of any product humans use and market the same thing for dogs. There’s your millions.

  6. From the title I thought this post was going to be about Jeanane Garofalo joining the cast of 24.

  7. Dibs on paper clips, post-its and dimpled golf balls for dogs.

  8. LOL! I found out about dog strollers a month ago.
Now, I have had many pets in my life and have loved all of them dearly, (well, maybe not the rabbit that electrocuted itself chewing on our christmas lights, or the gerbil that ripped its fellow gerbil cage mate apart after my brother starved them both, or the guinea pigs, or the parakeet that bit me, etc. ) but strollers and webpages for animals?
Can’t say I would ever consider it.

Oh, and one of my friends told me that once they got a dog, they were welcomed into an entirely new social circle. This group had weekly playdates for all their doggies, coordinating doggie walks and doggie and owner lunch time gatherings.

  9. If ever a dog deserved its own webpage, it’s this one:

  10. I haven’t got the faintest idea what your problem is. My dog has his own myspace page and is getting his own blog next week. What’s the big deal? He needs to express himself too. I just hope he meets some cool bloggers out there in the doggernacle.

  11. With bumperstickers like “cats NOT kids” going around, this surprises you?

  12. What, they don’t sell those in kid sizes?

  13. pets are cheaper than kids.

    and they don’t talk back.

  14. Can I bring my little fella to a doggie play date? Please?
