If Only I Could Blame It On The Refs

After the Super Bowl I was furious. Now I’m just sad. We (the Seahawks) were given a freebee with Romo’s bobble and played a solid game against a team that was supposed to blow us out. The game could have gone either way hinging on any play (for both teams). If it were a blowout it would have been much easier to watch, this was just too intense for us to lose. But, it was a well-earned win by Chicago. Congrats to those guys.

But the truth is that these playoffs are turning out to be pretty dang good. And it’s all NFC for me at this point. Go Saints or Bears!

  1. I’m with you, Rusty. The ending of that Dallas game was… wow. And today’s game was a nail-biter. I’m really bummed Alexander won’t get another shot at vengeance. Last year’s SB was one of the most outrageous I can remember, and vindication was on my mind as well.

I’m the same as you are, but I’m an AFC guy. The New England/San Diego game was another nail-biter. And for once in my life, I was rooting for the Pats because I think the Colts can beat the Pats at home better than they could beat the Chargers in SD. So for a brief 3 hour period, I knew what it felt like to root for New England. It was weird. I have to go wash out my skull now.

  2. Too painful to talk about right now…

  3. I’m so sick of hearing how great Chicago is this season, despite the fact that they’ve played very poorly the second half of the season and squeaked out wins against the poorest of teams. Yesterday was no different, other than the fact that Grossman seemed competent and did not attempt to hand the game to the other team.
I thought Seattle could win, and they did at least beat the 9 point spread (CHA-CHING!). Can some team PLEASE stand up and prove me right? New Orleans is supposed to have a great offense, but I haven’t really watched them play this season.
I had hoped that I could feel safe in the fact that San Diego would stroll through the AFC and grind Chicago, or whomever, to a pulp in the Super Bowl. Now that’s out the door and I fear that whichever AFC team makes it, they’re flawed enough that da Bears might pull off the win. Those lucky sonsabitches.
My father in law (and most other members of my wife’s family) is from Chi-town, and I’m going to have to hear about the greatness of da Bears, Ditka, and all things from the city of wind. Grrr.

  4. That was a really great weekend of football. Even the sucky NFC provided some good entertainment.

Fetchin’ Ravens offense. The defense did all you can expect it to against the Colts. You hold them to 15 and you should be able to beat them.

The Superbowl matchup I most want to see is Colts/Saints. I don’t know who I’d root for in that matchup. Probably the Colts. I’d like to see Peyton get a ring.

  5. Tom, that’s what I’m pulling for too. I just don’t think the Bears’ offense is capable of an SB victory, and an upset in Chicago would really hit the spot for me.

  6. I was wrong about almost everything else, but I would like to point out that I was right about the Chargers choking in the playoffs. A couple of smart plays and they would have been in the AFC title game. I actually was rooting for them to beat the Pats.

I was hoping for Chargers/Saints, but, yeah, Colts/Saints is the only acceptable match up now.
