The best Police song

My iPod has revealed it to me: “So Lonely,” from Outlandos D’Amour.

Just sayin’.

  1. Your iPod is wrong. It’s impossible to choose just one.

  2. Don’t be dissin’ on my iPod. My iPod also said that Opeth didn’t rule.

  3. “Hungry for You” or “Everything She Does is Magic” with “King of Pain” coming a quick third.

Although I still love to rock out to Syncronicity. (Part 1 not part 2)

  4. If only I had such an iPod. Unfortunately I have a Phison 512MB Pen Drive/MP3 player. Sort of like a shuffle from before there was a shuffle. I put it in my hat to give me an answer, but no dice…

  5. Clark,

    I like part II…

Also, where the heck is the chocolate? Need to buy for Christmas…

  6. Dude. I’m never talking to your iPod again.

  7. John, we have our Madacascar beans being molded and are working on our Venezuelan beans as we speak. But there’s no way they’ll be out for Christmas unfortunately. My business partner had an accident with his car which put us an other week behind. Then he got the flu really bad.

  8. Your iPod is broken.

  9. David, you could be right. It also warned me of the coming of Zuul.

  10. My pick for today from each of the five albums: “Can’t Stand Losing You”, “The Bed’s Too Big Without You”, “Don’t Stand So Close to Me”, “Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic”, “Synchronicity II”.

  11. I don’t have an iPod, but God has told me that “Message in a Bottle” is the best Police song.
    :)

  12. God vs. my iPod, D.? I’m not sure we want to have them fight.

  13. Where’s the love for “Roxanne”?!? hardy har har!

    It’s “King of Pain”.

  14. I like “So Lonely” but if I were to offer a criticism of the song, I would say it is too repetitious. At the end, if I remember right, it just repeats “so lonely” over and over and over again.

There are so many other great Police songs. It’s hard to pick. D. Fletcher might be identifying a very special one with “Message in a Bottle.” It’s really quite the confluence of great lyrics, great music, etc. It addresses human loneliness in a very creative and original way.

When it comes to the Police, I have a lot of favorite songs.

  15. You know, I know Roxanne gets a lot of bad attitude, but I’ve come to really like the song. Sting did a recover of the song a few years back that was more Jazzy that I really like. No, not the Wyclef Jean “duet.” It was a live version I rather liked. Much more melancholy than the reggae version of the original.

  16. It appears there are rumors of a Police reunion tour.

  17. forget the police, dream of the blue turtles is what you need.
