The Fonts of Cross-Promotion

I watched with some interest recent commericals and advertisements for the Sony Playstation 3.

Something seemed oddly familiar about the Sony PS3 logo:

Now where have I seen THAT before? Lemme think:

Sony steals from itself for its new logo?!? COME ON, PEOPLE! Hire some creative staff for once.

The HP notebooks slogan, “The Computer is Personal Again,” at the end of those nifty commercials that show the hands and midsections of celebrities (JayZ, Pharrel, Shawn White) playing with cool graphics is written in a font that I think is the same as The Nightmare Before Christmas. It’s a weird font choice for a computer ad.

  6. Also, not a font issue, but you may be familiar with the controversy surrounding Apple Computers ripping off the entire look and feel of The Postal Service’s “Such Great Heights” video for one of their commercials.
