Are you trying to make everyone happy?
Is it that obvious, Jennifer?
Only obvious in the way bleeding eyeballs or a third arm would be.
“It’s only a flesh wound!”
tee-hee.
You know that blog entry a while back that discussed longevity bands first albums versus latest?
Would that make a good thunderdome?
I had to go with the Who. I saw Zepplin in concert too many times to really think this song would be my number one vote. They’ve jaded my opinion of them.
Yes, See me Feel me, is a bit of a stretch for a good song, but I wouldn’t turn it off if it came on the radio.
Egad. It really says something when you have to rig the contest in order for LedZep to win.
I voted for the Beatles, of course.
P.S. When will we ever get out of this classic rock hell?
Greg, not to worry. This is the last week, I promise.
I just voted, and then I was sent to a page where I could view voting results. Why in the heck are the results displayed smack-dab in the middle of a bunch of links promoting sex with strangers?
You can do better than that Kulturblog.
Jack, don’t do it! Hold firm.
p.s. it’s not us — it’s Blogpoll, the company that does the free polling. don’t worry, we’ll find an alternative for future polls. In the meantime, stay strong — stay safe.
Anything from Tommy has to win.
Everyone knows “Lovely Rita” is the worst Beatles song ever. Possibly the most annoying song ever. I have to say I find its inclusion extremely suspect.
I refuse to vote this week, in a weak gesture of protest (that, and apparently Greg already voted from this computer so I can’t anyway).
Allison — “Lovely Rita” is a perfectly good song, shame on you.
As part of the album, Rita works, but pull it out and it’s no damn good. But Allison, Hello Goodbye is the worst Beatles song ever.
At my site I’m asking for feedback on a Beatles cover version playlist. Direct link here if anyone wants to mock me.
“Ramble On” was the first Zep song I ever heard. It’s been a long love affair since then. Someone told me once this song is about Frodo setting out to destroy the ring. Any truth to it?
David, just because a song references “the darkest depths of Mordor” and Gollum doesn’t mean that it’s about the Lord of the Rings…. oh, wait.
The biggest problem I have with Zep is exactly the fact that they often seem to be playing Dungeons and Dragons while writing songs.
Oooh, you better watch it RT — I hear John C. is a huge D&D guy…
Since Ramble On is crushing the competition I went for Rita. Meter maids need love too. And I agree with SG — it’s a perfectly good song. Plus it has some classic lines… “Sitting on the sofa with a sister or two”.
Hey, I’ll cop to my D&D geekery. I’ve even played the geekiest game ever, Shadowrun, which features orcs, trolls, elves, and dwarves in a cyber-punk setting. You cannot get any more geek than that.
If Zep had continued into the early 90′s, I’m sure it would have become the subject of a song or two.
