How exactly did Elliott Smith lose last week’s battle? Apathy of the cool kids is all it takes for the nerdy to triumph. So, this week I’ve thrown together some fairly random songs for your enjoyment. The Shins win, with “Caring is Creepy.”

It hurt me to vote against Elliott last week. But the song didn’t do much for me. Any track from From a Basement . . . would’ve got my vote against the other two.
Being a big-time 80′s child, I have to vote for the Psychedelic Furs. While it’s true Adam Ant was my first concert, and there’s something I really love about his voice, the P. Furs have a lot more meaning for me. (In fact the name of my personal blog, Strange Pulse, is taken from two P. Furs songs–”Susan’s Strange” and “Pulse.”)
That Hives song I find kinda annoying.
I must vote for the Ant. That’s my anthem.
(hee)
Although, if “Love My Way” had been a choice, I would anagonized a lot more about it.
How was Adam Ant in concert, Susan?
He put on a good show, but it was on a tour for a rather lame album (Strip). At the end of the show, he stripped down to shiny boxers and dived into a giant tank of water.
Phil Collins was in the audience before the show signing autographs, too. (He played drums on that album.)
I saw Adam Ant in concert too. I think it must have been his first tour in the U.S.- probably 1981 (I am that old). My friend and I were sitting with our legs hanging over the balcony, you know, actually sitting on the rail in this u-shaped hall , so we were really near the stage on the side, and Adam Ant caught sight of us and looked right at us. I mean, c’mon girls, he looked right at us!
The truth is that the Hives is the rockinest of the three, but Adam Ant is the only one that I would always be happy to waste three minutes on. Besides, Goody Goody Two Shoes was a kind of personal teenage anthem.
