Logan’s Random List of Songs: Accordions!

I know we’re late (again), but I think we’ll get a full week’s worth of tunes in.
Has anyone else noticed that accordions seem to be everywhere in music these days? After realizing accordions were in a couple songs I really like, I thought about it for a while and easily came up with five good songs from the last few years that feature them prominently.

I don’t really have much to say about these songs in light of the category. Each description would basically be, "Yep, there’s an accordion there. And I like this song." I’m happy to answer any questions, though.

I think something may be wrong with the Arcade Fire song on the radio blog. I can listen to everything except that song.
Pearl Jam’s “Bugs” gets my vote for most bizarre accordion song.
Probably off Logan’s radar but the best accordian music around is Buckwheat Zydeco. He owns it!

The Decemberists! I forgot about them. I’m relatively new to the Decemberists, and I forgot that their first two albums have accordions. I’ve been listening to Picaresque, which doesn’t seem to have any. My list is already made, but maybe I can include a Decemberists track as a bonus.
And I don’t have that Pearl Jam song (or any Buckwheat Zydeco — you got me there, chronicler!), but since I’m in a bonus song mood, I’ll put ‘em up if you email me.
Accordians can also be heard in practically any song by Weird Al Yankovic.
Hmm… Yankovic became popular in the early eighties, and now kids who liked his music then are old enough to start their own bands. Coincidence?

Hey everyone, just wanted to remind you to check out today’s addition: Gogol Bordello.
I really like the accordion in “That Was Your Mother” on Paul Simon’s Graceland album.
In Romania, couples hire an accordian player to follow the wedding party around all day and play. When I served in Ploieshti, the missionary apratment was in an apartment bloc that had a photo studio on the ground floor — and was 2 blocks away from an Orthodox church.
My companion and I decided that our version of hell is that you are doomed to have an accordion player follow you everwhere you go for eternity.
